Pop!

I’m confident when I say that I get great pleasure from singing “Shake It Out” at the top of my lungs, that I’m not the only one.

My favorite place to do this is my car. Volume loud enough to make my voice sound as if it were in perfect harmony with the beautiful Florence. While harmonizing I like to imagine a montage of touching moments in my life. I have to be careful not to close my eyes for longer then a blink while getting lost in my ballad, after all I am driving. Everyone does this right..?

Flo Rida - Good Feeling

Yawn! Is it just me or is has the Top 40 been a bit blah lately?

Flo Rida, Good Feeling is a refreshing new addition to the radio rotation. Do yourself a favor and give a listen to the song from which the sample was taken, Etta James - Somethings Got A Hold On Me. That women can sing!

Fucking Dance.

R. I. P. Mos Def

I recently found out that Mos Def has decided to follow the age old tradition of rappers who change there names. He will be joining the ranks with Diddy, Big Baby Jesus, Bow Wow and many more.

The name change is planned for 2012. Something about planning and publicizing this so far in advance strikes me as ludicrous ( giggle ) . Just do it already! I wonder if there will be some kind of ceremony? Anyways come sometime in 2012 our old pal Mos Def will begin going by “Yasiin”. Doesn’t quite roll off the tongue now does it?

The only name change I support would be Most Definitely. Classin’ the old one up a bit you know?

Remember Soulja Boy? He made a splash with his 2007 hit “Crank That”. Admittedly a catchy track but what really made it was the dance. As he summarizes for you in the beginning of the song all you have to do is, Punch that and crank that three times from left to right. Most importantly you need to “Superman that ho” which if you don’t know what it is give it a quick Google search, you might be surprised what you learn. Needless to say my friends and I took it upon ourselves to learn this dance with instruction of YouTube and under the care of malt liquor.  40 ounces later we had it down and were ready to debut it to whatever party would have us.

Fast-forward to todays top 40 charts. LMFAO comes out with the addicting, Party Rock Anthem. If the song weren’t enough to leave you fist pumping and running to the nearest computer to download…there’s a dance that goes along with it. Ladies and Gentlemen LMFAO presents, The Shuffle. I’ve watched the video more then a handful of times in my apartment trying to recreate the moves. It’s a little more involved then my skill level permits.  I normally just end up kicking my legs around and flailing my arms. I can’t help but think that in my former life I would’ve committed myself more fully to the endeavor over a Steele Reserve, gone are the days.

Just on a quick side note. In my favorite part of the song LMFAO alerts males listeners that if “ you’re looking for your girl, she on ma’ jock ”. While sweet of them to let men know where to look for there loved ones in the event they’ve gone missing, who in Gods name would hook up with these clowns?

Maroon 5 - Moves Like Jagger

Maroon 5, bless them, always cranking out the hits. The latest, Moves like Jagger, has really got ahold of me. I could go for less Xtina but generally speaking I’m not her biggest fan. She’s been dead to me since “Dirty”.

Every time I hear Moves Like Jagger I wiggle around like maniac. Truth be told I’m only half sure what Mr. Jaggers moves look like but I believe he’d me proud of my rendition none the less.

“Kiss me till your drunk and I’ll show you. I got them moves like Jagger.”  I wonder how Mick feels about all this?

For years I followed Perez Hilton with religious dedication. Catch me on any given day and I can sing along to 90% of the top 40 word for word. I often catch myself wondering about characters from Jersey Shores, The Hills and Gossip Girl as if they were long time friends of mine.

I’ve decided to start this blog not to inform readers of anything going on in the delicious world of pop culture, there are others much more suited for that task. I however, just want an out avenue to air my dirty little pop culture secrets.
